(Ux1 UNI TRAX 1000™ | Rx1 UNI TRAX RECESSED 1200™ | Mx2 MAXX TRAX 2000™)

  1. Choosing the location to mount the Ux1 UNI Trax 1000™ | Rx1 Uni Trax Recessed 1200™ | Mx2 MAXX Trax 2000™ is your discretion based upon your needs. Select a location which provides structural support for Trax and will meet your overall tie down needs. You will need access to the back/under side of the mounting surface to allow for bolt-through installation to secure system with washer and nylon lock nut.
  2. Place track in desired locations and fasten (temporarily) with clamps or other holding tool. CAUTION: Check the back/under side of mounting surface to be certain you will not damage anything (i.e.: wiring, outer vehicle body/skin, etc.) when drilling through the mounting surface. NOTE: The overall strength of the Trax system is subject to the integrity of the mounting surface, therefore it is recommended you choose a suitable structural surface in order to take full advantage of the strength of Trax tie down system.
  3. FOR THIS STEP, YOU WILL USE EITHER a 3/16″ drill bit or 1/4″ drill bit, depending on which hardware you will be using to install your Trax. If you are using SHEET METAL SCREWS, YOU WILL USE 3/16″ DRILL BIT. If you are using MACHINE SCREWS WITH WASHERS AND LOCKING NUTS, YOU WILL USE a 1/4” drill bit. Drill through the mounting surface at each of the base through-holes on the track.
  4. Insert 1/4” machine screw through the track and mounting surface. Place a washer and lock nut on the screw and tighten (using a Phillips screwdriver and wrench). If you are using SHEET METAL SCREWS to install, screw each SHEET METAL SCREW in place and tighten.
  5. Repeat this step until each drill-through mounting has been secured.

NOTES: Lubricate threads before assembly. If using a power driver be sure to place it on low speed to avoid thread binding. For even greater strength, or when installing on wooden substrate, you may choose to use steel backing plates (in lieu of supplied washers); distributing load stress over a larger area. (Steel backing plates not included.) Loads shift & settle; inspect after 10 miles; then every 40/50 miles thereafter (inspect in shorter intervals if on rough/bumpy roads or inclement weather). Make sure all connecting points on vehicle are secure.

OPTIONAL CORE TRAX™ INSTALL METHOD: An optional method of installing Core Trax™ can be used when there is no ability for accessing the opposite end of the bolt to thread the nut and washer.

There is a product called “Nutsert and/or Jack Nut” (pictures below), whereby you drill a hole and slip the Nutsert into the hole. Depending on what type of Nutsert/Jack Nut is used, you either use a “rivet” type gun to compress the Nutsert or with other types you are able to bolt in place.

In all cases, it is the flaring of the back side of the Nutsert/Jack Nut (like a butterfly nut) that provides a threaded port to bolt into.

This method would typically provide you with adequate strength of the bolt, nut & washer dependent on the strength of the substrate.

Nutserts/Jack Nuts can be purchased at most hardware stores or online.
